Joan Crawford was born to play the heroine Sally Carson, the working class girl with first class ambition. Actually, she did in at least a dozen films. The great dust jacket illustration sets the tone. It is a story of a lonely blue collar girl who dreams of a more glamorous life, and gets a glimpse of it when she meets the handsome and rich Bruce Graham. Of course, circumstances break them apart, and Sally resolves to make it in his world, not as Mrs. Bruce Graham, but on her own merits.
