[Signed by Diana Cooper to Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. with his Bookplate] Ziegler, Philip. Diana Cooper. Book and dust jacket are in very good condition. Inscription reads, “For my long treasured friend Douglas with my admiration and love, Diana Cooper 1981.”
One means of determining whether a subject approves of a biography is when copies of said book appear that are signed by the subject. Even then, it is uncommon. But, Diana Cooper herself was one of a kind—a Twentieth Century original, and Ziegler aptly portrays her transition from daughter of a duke to stage actress to political wife to international socialite. The Fairbanks bookplate adds to the appeal.
