Antonio Lopez, Antonio’s Girls
Lopez, Antonio. Antonio’s Girls. First Edition. 1982. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—jacket shows rubbing, a repaired tear, and edgewear. Introduction by Christopher Hemphill.
Antonio happened onto the scene just as American fashion began to be taken seriously in Paris. By trade, he was fashion illustrator, but his other gift was spotting talent. Many of the great 1970s supermodels were at least in part his discovery, and this book is a collection of his sketches of them. It also includes their memories of him and the New York and Paris fashion scenes, circa 1970s. Includes contributions by Jessica Lange, Tina Chow, Jerry Hall, Pat Cleveland, and Grace Jones.
“Fashionable artists run a great, if obvious, risk: they may become unfashionable.”
--Christopher Hemphill
