“You have to realize that I cannot put my name on a commercial enterprise,” Doubleday editor Jacqueline Onassis told Tiffany’s creative director John Loring when she agreed to edit the books about Tiffany. Though her name is not present, her wit and sense of style are throughout in this attractive book of imaginative table arrangements (collaborations with a variety of glittering personalities from 1980s international society). Onassis considered the project “social document, not advertising,” and posterity has proven her to be correct.
