How to Catch a Man, Signed Presentation to Jimmy Stewart
[Signed Presentation to Jimmy Stewart] Gabor, Zsa Zsa. How to Catch a Man. First Edition. 1970. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Book is inscribed on the flyleaf, “to Darling good, bad, lusty[?], gorgeous Jimmy, with much love, Zsa Zsa.”
If practice counts, this actress is one of the better sources for how to acquire a husband. She had nearly as many of them (nine) as film roles. And, one of her fiancés was the legendary lover Porfirio Rubirosa. Though one might quibble with her talent for holding on to men, this book is full of wit and Hollywood glamour and, occasionally, even sensible advice. She counsels that to enjoy oneself, take the honeymoon before the marriage. She also fractures Emily Post, recommending that if an engagement is broken, give back the ring, but keep the stone.
“[A] problem you’ll have when you read my advice is that you may get mixed up, because it is not always logical and consistent. Don’t worry, though. Advice that’s not logical and not consistent is the very best kind.”
