Sheraton, Mimi. The Seducer’s Cookbook, Helpful and Hilarious Hints for 20 Situations Into Which Men May Lure Women, and Vice Versa. First Edition. 1963. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—jacket shows a chip and tear to the back cover and is price-clipped.
Opening with the French proverb that the “mousetrap does not run after the mouse,” this illustrated book instructs on how to use a kitchen to get to the bedroom. Frank discussions of sexuality had only become mainstream the year prior with the release of Helen Gurley Brown’s Sex and the Single Girl. This was one of the more humorous books to follow on its coattails. Intended for the sophisticate, it includes advice on “décor, dress, dialogue, drink, and delicious recipes.”
“Though bed may be a man’s primary consideration, it isn’t his only one—not quite. He has his ego, and nothing deflates it more than the thought that a woman’s sole interest in him is sexual.”
--Mimi Sheraton
