Three “Seasons Greetings” Duke and Duchess of Windsor Christmas Cards: “Weihnachtsmorgen;” “Santa Claus;” and “Red Crown Monogram.” Circa 1950s. Provenance: Dr. Henry Wisdom Cave, a surgeon who performed an operation on the Duchess in 1951.
“Weihnachtsmorgen” contains a watercolor with a surrealistic winter scene by Carl Grünwald that opens to holiday message. “Santa Claus” contains a watercolor drawing of Santa and his sleigh that is on vellum and opens to a blank card. “Red Crown Monogram” contains the simple monogram outlined in red that opens up to a Christmas message from the Windsors.
