Three Residence-Themed Duke and Duchess of Windsor Christmas Cards: “La Cröe;” “Bois de Boulogne;” and “Moulin de la Tuilerie.” Circa 1950s. Provenance: Dr. Henry Wisdom Cave, a surgeon who performed an operation on the Duchess in 1951.
“La Cröe” features a red crown monogram that opens to a message and b & w drawing of Chateau de la Cröe, a home the Windsors rented in Cap d’Antibes that was later owned by Aristotle Onassis. “Bois de Boulogne” features a b & w drawing of the Windsors’ Paris home that opens to a green crown monogram and a holiday message. “Moulin de la Tuilerie” contains a watercolor of the Windsors’ beloved country home that opens to a green crown monogram and a message.
