D.V., Signed "DV" by Diana Vreeland
[Signed] Vreeland, Diana. D.V. First Edition. 1984. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—jacket shows edgewear and is price-clipped. Book is signed “DV” in Vreeland’s typical green marker on the half title page.
A fact checker might have difficulty with this stylized book from the legendary fashion editor. The essence of the truth, however, shines through. Vreeland herself labels it “faction,” a blend of truth and fiction. And, if truth is stranger than fact, then faction trumps them both, as Vreeland breezes through a miscellany of subjects, including Vogue, India, Paris, New York, blue jeans, London, Elsie de Wolfe, Andy Warhol, the Ballets-Russes, and much more.
“The two greatest mannequins of the century were Gertrude Stein and Edith Sitwell-unquestionably. You just couldn’t take a bad picture of those two old girls.”
