There are many editions of the classic holiday tale, but this is one of the most appealing. It contains color and b & w illustration by the marvelous Everett Shinn who illustrated an edition of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol in this same era. Shinn also wrote the introduction, in which he writes about the New York City father who composed this classic tale in a matter of hours and read it to his family on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1822.
