[Signed Presentation from Dorothy Draper to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis] Draper, Dorothy. Decorating Is Fun! Third Edition. 1952. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Book is inscribed, “For Jacqueline Bouvier, This book goes to you with my best wishes. I Hope it proves useful, Dorothy Draper, August 15, 1953.”
Given that the individual to whom this book was signed would famously refurbish and redecorate the White House, it is difficult to imagine a more noteworthy copy of Dorothy Draper’s classic design primer. It is signed a few weeks prior to her wedding to the future president. A theory about how this book landed in her library: Draper’s niece Nancy Tuckerman was Jacqueline’s Miss Chapin’s classmate (and lifelong confidante).
“Don’t be in the least disturbed by trends or fashions, or anyone else’s advice. They are probably wrong. Be critical—never humble.”
