Morse, A. Hastings. Blondes Prefer Gentlemen. First Edition. 1938. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—one page has an even tear repaired with archival tape, and jacket shows minor fraying to the upper spine.
This is not exactly the light-hearted café society book suggested by its marvelous dust jacket cover. It is, however, highly quotable and interesting reading. The author theorizes that the 20th Century upended traditional gender roles, but left only uncertainty and confusion in their place. “Freud undressed sex and it has remained naked ever since,” he writes. He then proposes a solution, which fuses tradition and modernity based upon principles of spirituality and common sense. Rare in dust jacket.
“Success in marriage is hard to define. But the couple poor in purse and rich in mind has a far greater chance to succeed than if the order was reversed.”
