[Signed] Evans, Robert. The Kid Stays in the Picture. First Edition. 1994. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. The book is inscribed on the half title page, “To Bo & Carlyn, Fond thoughts, Robert Evans.”
This truth-is-stranger-than-fiction tale from 1970s-era movie mogul Robert Evans begins poolside at the Beverly Hills Hotel when he was glimpsed by Norma Shearer who decided on the spot that he would be perfect to play her deceased husband Irving Thalberg in a biopic. He eventually moved behind the camera, becoming the genius executive who took perennial also-ran Paramount Studios from the cellar to the top with Love Story and The Godfather. Evans amusingly recalls his fabulous but fleeting moment at the top of the Hollywood food chain and the astonishing progression of improbable events that took him there.
“There are three sides to every story: yours … mine … and the truth. No one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently.”
