Eight years after the 1984 publication of Horst, His Work and His World—the definitive book on Horst—his work was repackaged and reinterpreted by the luxury boutique press Twin Palms. This monograph focuses on the photographer’s more artistic efforts, but creative and commercial sometimes march in step, and that was often the case with Horst. Form, “the essential nature of a thing,” is the theme here, and the book includes still life, nudes, and fashion work. As with all Twin Palms projects, the scale is large and impressive, and the paper quality is first rate.
