And Blondes Prefer Paris [Ex Libris Anita Loos with Her Bookplate]
[Ex Libris Anita Loos with Her Bookplate] Deval, Jacques. And Blondes Prefer Paris. Privately Printed by the French State Railways. 1930. Softcover with dust jacket in good condition—fraying to upper spine. The bookplate of Anita Loos is attached to the endpaper, and the book has her estate stamp.
This novella is a series of letters an American flapper on an extended vacation in France sends to her paramour back in the United States. It is a take on Anita Loos’s best-selling novel Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, making this a marvelous association copy. Even though its purpose was commercial, the book is amusingly written, very much worthy of the novel that was its inspiration. Moreover, its illustrations, which are frequent and in color, are divine.
