A King’s Story, Signed by the Duke of Windsor
[Signed] Windsor, Duke of. A King’s Story, The Memoirs of the Duke of Windsor. First American Edition. 1951. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—jacket is price-clipped and shows minor fraying, light chipping and mild discoloration to spine. This copy is signed “Edward” on a decorative bookplate tipped in to the flyleaf.
Contrary to its name, this thick book is more autobiography than memoir. In it, the Duke seeks to set the record straight about “the love story of the century” and its resulting abdication. However, it covers much more than that. He describes growing up at Windsor, Sandringham, and Balmoral among cousins from most of the royal houses of Europe. He also proudly covers hisgreatest achievement—the globe-spanning goodwill tour he took as a young and dashing Crown Prince.
“The thing that impresses me most about America is the way parents obey their children.”
--The Duke of Windsor
