[Signed Presentation to David Jones] Wilber, Del Quentin. Rawhide Down, The Near Assassination of Ronald Reagan. First Edition. 2011. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. This copy is warmly inscribed to the Reagans’ close friend and “first florist” David Jones who designed the arrangements for the Reagan-era state dinners: “David, Great meeting you over dinner w/ Mrs. Reagan! Best wishes, Del Wilber, 4-9-11.” Laid in is a promotional post card for the book with a message to Jones from Wilber. The book is also signed by Jerry Parr, the secret service agent credited with saving President Reagan’s life on the day of the attempted assassination: “Jerry Parr w/ warm personal regards to David.”
This is a most unique copy of the book about the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan. It is signed to David Jones, a close friend of the Reagans and a frequent visitor to the Reagan White House. Moreover, the inscription references a dinner with Mrs. Reagan in which the author met Jones. Lastly, it also signed by the secret service agent who pushed the wounded President into the limousine, thereby saving his life on that fateful day (and along with the President is depicted on the front cover of the dust jacket).
