The affection Land-Rover owners have for their vehicles is legendary, which might explain why this title, published only in the UK, is already so difficult to find. Or, it could easily be the appeal of the book itself. A travel memoir, it is set in the still-unspoiled Africa of the mid-20th Century, as a British expat living in Rhodesia explores the Dark Continent via a second hand Land-Rover. As the title promises, the vehicle is very much a character of the book, traversing even the most inhospitable of terrain.
