The Mental Side of Golf
Thompson, Kenneth R. The Mental Side of Golf, A Study of the Game as Practised by Champions. First Edition. 1939. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—jacket shows minor fraying and a few tiny tears. Dust jacket illustration by Stephen J. Voorhies.
Perhaps more than other outdoor pastime, golf is based upon mental, not physical, prowess. As such, it requires supreme concentration, but paradoxically, also relaxation. This author, a gifted amateur, developed a system to balance both, which he espouses in this attractive book. Though many of the particulars relate to golf, the general lesson—the tightrope act of balancing mental sharpness and with stress reduction—is applicable to many aspects of life.
“The art of relaxing must be practised just as much as one practises a particular shot in golf.”
--Kenneth R. Thompson
