Muir, John. The Mountains of California. First Edition Thus. 1916. Two Volumes. Books are in very good condition; dust jackets are in very good minus condition—there is a discreet ownership signature in the books, and jackets show very light chipping—an attractive set.
This two-volume set combines Muir’s original The Mountains of California (first published in 1894) with Muir’s later book The Yosemite. In the volumes, the great American naturist covers both the Coastal and Sierra ranges, including the flora and fauna found in them, the many ways in which they are unique, and the spectacular redwoods that are found only there. Though first published in the Victoria age, the writing style is straightforward and elegant. It is a classic work, and it is remarkable to find an early dust jackets in such attractive condition.
