Dali by Max Gerard
Gerard, Max. Dali. First Edition. 1968. Book and dust jacket are in very good condition. Translated by Eleanor R. Morse.
This book was edited by Max Gerard but produced under the close supervision of Salvador Dali himself, and text by Dali is throughout. It was part of the excellent Abrams Arts Book series. With hundreds of illustrations and also poetic verse, the book explores the common themes of Dali’s work: the horrors of war; his “lost twin” wife Gala; the paradox of space-time; eroticism, and mysticism. With its distinctive gold foil cover and lavishly heavy pages, this first edition was not subject to the economies that would soon become necessary in mainstream publishing.
“Do not be alarmed by perfection, you will never attain it.”
--Salvador Dali
