Farrell, Henry. Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? First Edition. 1960. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition.
This macabre thriller about the lifelong rivalry between two Vaudeville siblings who made the transition to Hollywood was adapted into a the ultimate comeback vehicle for "feuding" actresses Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Cast in the roles of the two sisters, it was the first and only film in which they co-starred. Crawford and Davis were themselves longtime rivals, and the filming was fraught with the same sort of verbal parries and physical intimidation off camera as it was on. The film adaptation was a greater success than the book, and as such, first editions are uncommon.
Blanche: “You wouldn't be able to do these awful things to me if I weren't still in this chair.”
Jane: “But you *are*, Blanche! You *are* in that chair!”
