Love Affair, A Memoir of Jackson Pollock, Signed by Ruth Kligman
[Signed Presentation] Kligman, Ruth. Love Affair, A Memoir of Jackson Pollock. First Edition. 1974. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—there is a small chip to the upper spine. “To dear Peter, Thank you—we understand (well you do.) Love, Ruth 6/8/73.”
Ruth Kligman will be forever remembered for her love affair with Jackson Pollock and the tragic night in the Hamptons when a car accident killed him and left her severely injured. She relates that story, as well as the origins of their romance, in this memoir. However, there is more to Ruth Kligman than simply Jackson Pollock. She was one the 20th Century’s great muses—she had also had an intense on-again, off-again love affair with Willem de Kooning and friendships with roster of notable New York City artists, including Andy Warhol and Robert Mapplethorpe. Signed copies of this, her only published book, are uncommon.
“All I have to do is close my eyes and think of Jackson. He appears as if by magic, not in the way he is in photographs, but in the way he was.”
