House Party, Patrick Dennis
[Patrick Dennis] Rowans, Virginia. House Party. Fourth Printing. 1957. Book and dust jacket are both in very good minus condition—endpapers show discoloration; and jacket shows moderate fraying, mostly to the upper spine.
The characters in this farce come from a good family, but alas, it is one of those families that used to be much better. The action takes place over a weekend at their North Shore mansion. It is a story that could have been written by Nancy Mitford if she were channeling Patrick Dennis. Actually, it really was Auntie Mame’s Patrick Dennis writing under a pseudonym (preceding Mame by two years). Fun!
"It was said that if Violet Glendenning put a token in a subway turnstile, she'd strike oil. She not only touched her principal, she mauled it."
--Virginia Rowans (a.k.a. Patrick Dennis)
