Fashion rarely pauses long enough to capture anything other than fleeting glimpses into any one individual’s personal style. There are shockingly few monographs on this intriguing subject. The great Richard Martin book Flair, Fashion Collected by Tina Chow is one exception. This book is another, and it goes into even greater depth, both visually and in regard to the narrative. The subject here is the highly imaginative Anna Piaggi, a longtime editor of Italian Vogue. She and her unique style are depicted in a variety of ensembles by her great friend and frequent collaborator Karl Lagerfeld.
"Jacques Clemente made me up as 'a wife of a Venetian fisherman in the lagoon at dawn' ... At the last moment, I added accessories from my refrigerator: ... some beautiful prawns and some spider-crabs on a bed of seaweed."
--Anna Piaggi
