Your Dog in the City
Greenfield, Helen. Your Dog in the City, A Common Sense Guide to the Care, Feeding and Training of Dogs. First Edition. 1945. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—jacket shows mild rubbing that his been disguised by blue marker.
This impossible-to-find book is sought out by collectors for its divine illustration of a Scottish terrier in silhouette against a city skyline. However attractive its look, though, its content is better. The author correctly points out that the dog is highly adaptive and a good learner, and therefore, the purpose of the book is as much to train the master as it is to teach the dog (“Your Human in the City”).
“Watch your dog for all sorts of games he will suggest to you. As you get to know [him], you will find that he can teach you games also.”
