The How to Keep Him (After You’ve Caught Him) Cookbook
Kragen, Jinx. The How to Keep Him (After You’ve Caught Him) Cookbook: An Irreverent and Affectionate Guide to the Well-Stuffed Spouse. First Edition. 1968. Book and dust jacket are both in very good minus condition—spine is slightly cocked and there is a trace of foxing to the upper page edges; jacket shows mild soiling and edgewear. Co-written by Judy Perry.
This tongue-in-cheek cookbook is as memorable for its droll commentary as it is for its recipes. Published in 1968, on the wave of a cultural revolution, it was already a throwback to an earlier era: the Kennedy early 1960s by way of the Eisenhower 1950s. Mixed in with sections of recipes and menus for entertaining is humorous advice on man-pleasing, appeasing, and cajoling. Would make an amusing gift for a bridal shower or engagement party. Uncommon in dust jacket.
“[D]espite the work involved, we’ve found that there’s no better way to make points with your prince consort than to allow him to host the party of the season. Look what it did for Truman Capote.”
