Laid in is some material pertaining to the Sixth Annual Newman’s Own Recipe Contest, where this copy was presumably signed. Compiled by Ursula Hotchner and Nell Newman. This cookbook is an offshoot of the Newman’s Own food brand, created by Newman and A.E. Hotchner in 1982. Though the legendary actor died in 2008, Newman’s Own lives on, continuing to donate all of its after-tax profits to children’s charities. The tone of the text in the book is droll, but the recipes are genuine, a collection of the favorite meals served in the Paul Newman/Joanne Woodward household, with Newman’s occasional “dad jokes” thrown in.
