This cookbook grew out of Newman’s Own, the not-for-profit food brand Paul Newman launched in 1982 with his friend and collaborator A. E. Hotchner. Like Newman was himself, the book has a disarming mix of sincerity and mischief: the tone is droll, the recipes are real, and the whole enterprise carries Newman’s easygoing charm. Drawn largely from the favorite meals served in the Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward household, it combines practical home cooking with occasional wisecracks (dad jokes) from Newman himself. This signed copy is especially appealing: a cheerful piece of culinary Americana connected to one of Hollywood’s most admired stars and one of its most inspiring philanthropic success stories.
