[Signed by Brigid Berlin] Berlin, Brigid. Brigid Berlin Polaroids. First Edition. 2014. Hardcover (no dust jacket, as issued) in very good condition. Book is signed “Brigid Berlin” on the title page. Edited by James Dagon, Vincent Freemont, and Anastasia Rygle. Foreword by John Waters. Introduction by Bob Colacello.

In Bob Colacello’s introduction to this book of Polaroid photos taken by his lifelong friend and erstwhile Factory co-worker, he observes that the only thing Brigid Berlin enjoyed more than rebelling was documenting her rebellion. He also notes she was a generation ahead of her time, a precursor of the narcissism, exhibitionism, and the confusion of fame and infamy “that have become staples of [21st Century] American popular culture.” Her license to do so was her birthright; she had the self-assurance that inherited wealth and social status provide. It made her the mirror image and muse to Andy Warhol. Of all those who did time at his Factory, perhaps she was the most indispensable. There are many images of both Warhol and Berlin in this book, as well as many others associated with the 20th Century New York art scene.

“I never tried to hide anything, I’ve never said a thing that’s off the record in my life.”

--Brigid Berlin
