[Signed by Lana Turner to Her Falcon Crest Producer] Turner, Lana. Lana, The Lady, The Legend, The Truth. First Edition. 1982. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Warmly inscribed in her typical red pen on the flyleaf, “For Earl [Hamner, Jr.], My friend! With love and gratitude, for giving me ‘Jacqueline.’ Always, Lana.”

Back in the day when Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper reigned over Hollywood, Hopper resented Lana Turner’s friendship with Parsons and reacted by writing negatively about her. MGM told its glamorous star to bend the knee, but when Hopper inquired what was going on with her, Turner couldn’t do it. She tartly responded, “Everything but what you print about me.” It didn’t go over well. In this memoir, Lana Turner finally gets the chance to seize control of the narrative, writing honestly about her many failed marriages and recalling the glory days of the studio system, when she was the one of the brightest stars at the best studio in town. This copy is signed to Earl Hamner, the showrunner for Falcon Crest. The inscription references the name of her character on that show, Jacqueline Perrault.

“All those years that my image on the screen was sex goddess’—well, that makes me laugh. Sex was never important to me.”

--Lana Turner
