Hatch, Eric. A Couple of Quick Ones. Second Printing. 1928. Book and dust jacket are both in very good minus condition—previous owner's name written in book; there are few minor edge tears; and jacket flaps are slightly clipped.
This is an amusing, light-hearted story of upper class New York. It is written as if from the diary of the protagonist, Martin Jones—a “society man, sportsman, and soak.” He could have been modeled upon Jack Bouvier (Jacqueline Kennedy’s father) but was not. It is, according to the New York Times, “a prohibition-time story of a chap who married the wrong girl, got the wrong job and backed the wrong horse.” As much a series of episodes as a novel, the plot never veers far from the author’s own experiences.
