This copy is from the library of Carl Van Vechten; his famous Prentiss Taylor-designed bookplate is attached to the front endpaper.
This is a difficult book to find in any form. How great this copy is from the library of Van Vechten. The book pairs Hamnett’s drawings of London statues with sardonic commentary by Sitwell. He makes no attempt to be scholarly; his descriptions range from the whimsical to the desultory, which makes the book a lot of fun.
