Galella, Ron. The Photographs of Ron Galella, 1965 to 1989. First Edition. 2002. Hardcover in very good condition; no dust jacket (as issued). Edited by Steven Bluttal. Introduction by Tom Ford. Foreword by Diane Keaton. Interview with Ron Galella by Glenn O'Brien.
There is no profession more maligned that that of the paparazzo. However, there is one who shattered the wall between tabloid journalism and respectable artist: Ron Galella. Galella’s genius was his ability to combine the glamour of the studio shot with the authenticity of actual living. Back in 2002, the much-missed Greybull Press rediscovered him and packaged his work for the 21st Century audience. The large and attractive book was the result. There have other works on him since, but this book by Greybull remains the best. Includes both b & w and color examples of his work.
"It is the spontaneity of [Ron Galella's] photographs, the fact that his subjects were caught off guard in an instant of life that makes them timeless, and yet so much about their time."
--Tom Ford
