In this fourth installment of the charming 1940s era children’s book series, it is summer break, and Little Elephant is getting away from the city. He finds himself on his uncle’s farm, a bit bewildered but with infinite curiosity and a willingness to try anything. He tangles with the geese, attempts to slide down the sloped roof the barn, and engages in general (but ultimately harmless mayhem). As with the other Little Elephant books, the illustrations are divine.
