A Million Little Pieces, Warmly Inscribed to Gus Van Sant
[Signed Presentation to Gus Van Sant] Frey, James. A Million Little Pieces. First Edition, First Printing. 2003. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. The inscription to Van Sant reads, “Gus—As you know, I am huge admirer of your work, think you’re one of this generation’s great directors, and when I saw the quote you gave me, I almost started to cry. It is a huge honor, thank you thank you thank you. I hope we can work together in the future, I hope we can work on this together in the future. All my best—James Frey.” Also included is a signed letter from Coates Bateman, Frey’s editor at Nan A. Talese, which reads, “Dear Mr. Van Sant—Thanks very much for your support and wonderful words about James book. He wanted you to have this signed copy. Very best. Coates.”
A Million Little Pieces is thus far most talked about book of the Twenty-First Century. With its unique inscription (referencing a movie deal gone south), this copy is more than simply an artifact of popular culture history.
