Marine Game Fishes on the Pacific Coast
Walford, Lionel A. Marine Game Fishes on the Pacific Coast from Alaska to the Equator. First Edition. 1937. Book is in very good minus condition; dust jacket is in good plus condition—jacket shows wear, but is in exceptionally nice condition for this title. Paintings by Link Malmquist. Photographs by Ralph Emerson.
Fishermen and scuba divers alike will appreciate this massive and attractive book that was published in the 1930s by the University of California Press. It was the result of a two month expedition down the Pacific Coast by group of five anglers and three scientists aboard a ship equipped with an aquarium, dark room, and lab. The main section divides the fish into “tribes” (mackerel, swordfish, barracuda, salmon, sea-bass, etc.) and includes text and drawings. The second section includes sixty-nine full-page color plates depicting the various species.
“There are places along the Mexican and Central American coasts where the waters are literally boiling with fish life.”
--Lionel A. Walford
