Fishermen and scuba divers will both appreciate this massive and attractive book that was published in the 1930s by the University of California Press. It was the result of a two month expedition down the Pacific Coast by group of five anglers and three scientists aboard a ship equipped with a an aquarium, dark room, and lab. The main section divides the fish into “tribes” (mackerel, swordfish, barracuda, salmon, sea-bass, etc.) and includes text and drawings. The second section includes sixty-nine full-page color plates depicting the various species.
“There are places along the Mexican and Central American coasts where the waters are literally boiling with fish life.”
--Lionel A. Walford
