Paris and New York may be the world’s fashion capitals, but to purchase fashion illustration, best head to the Galerie Barsch & Chariau in Munich. The gallery’s owner was one of the first to recognize the significance of fashion illustration, and her personal collection was recently on display at the London Design Museum. This great catalogue, with gorgeous, tipped-in color plates was from a 1991 retrospective featuring the work of, among others, Leon Bakst, George Barbier, Benito, Christian Berard, Eric, and Georges Lepape.
