Jacqueline Onassis exercised caution when using her famous name to further her career in publishing. Her approach was twofold. She would happily use the pull of her name to sign new writers, but she refused to be a tool for public relations. Her name was not attached to the books she edited. This title, published in coordination with her friend Diana Vreeland’s costume exhibition of the same name, was one of the few exceptions. As such, it is rather extraordinary that this is her copy of that book.
