Herb Ritts was known for his celebrity portraiture and work for fashion magazines such as Vogue. This study of the Maasai people and the natural world that surrounded them was something of a departure for Ritts. However, there is commonality, a shared vision, between Africa and his other work. It is as if he had the ability to elevate any subject to celebrity or fashion model status. Images include natives in full tribal regalia, lions, giraffes, etc. It is large book, with full-page b & w photographs.
