[Ex Libris Francis P. Fretwell] Judy, Will. Training the Dog. Revised and Enlarged Edition (Fourth). 1934. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. This copy has the bookplate of Francis P. Fretwell, who amassed the largest private collection of books on the subject of dogs. He was a longtime president of the Poodle Club of America.
There is a reason an expert on dogs like Francis Fretwell would possess this book on training them. It is clear, concise, and written from a modern perspective. Its premise is that the key to success is training the beast. The twist here is that the beast is man, and it is man that needs the training. His loyal, noble counterpart is, of course, the dog. An attractive book.
“There is nothing in this world more expressive than a dog’s tail, except a woman’s smile.”
