Ylla (Camilla Koffler) was a Paris-based sculptor and photographer whose superb portraits of animals made her the pre-eminent animal photographer of the mid-Twentieth Century. The Museum of Modern Art was so impressed it sponsored her entry visa into the United States. This book collects some of her best work in gorgeous full-page photogravure plates. Subject breeds include poodles, English bulldogs, Great Danes, dachshunds, various terriers, and even a mongrel.
