[Signed, Presentation to Slim Keith; Ownership Signature of Slim Keith] Beaton, Cecil. Cecil Beaton: Memoirs of the 40’s. First Edition. 1972. Book is inscribed, “To Slim, How I love ya, Always, Cecil.” It is signed by Slim Keith to a bookplate attached to the front endpaper.
Only the first two volumes of Cecil Beaton’s Diaries saw American editions. In lieu of The Happy Years, 1944-48, published abroad, this book was released in the U.S. It presents much of the same material but is divided by subject matter rather than date. Much of the book concerns Greta Garbo, the love of Beaton’s life, and it is most certainly why he classified these years as his happy ones. Includes frequent b & w photographic illustration.
