Loeb, Robert H., Jr. Nip Ahoy, The Picture Bar Guide. First Edition. 1954. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—jacket shows minor tears and fraying. Illustrations by Joel King.
This 1950’s era mixology book is designed for the amateur bartender who blushes “like a Pink Lady when asked to mix anything more complicated than a whiskey and water.” The book is amusingly and thoroughly illustrated with duotone drawings, in which pictures are used to show the reader how to make over one hundred different varieties of cocktail. The author guarantees the recipes “to be 100 proof—fool-proof that is.” Author also wrote picture-based cookbooks, the most famous of which was Wolf in Chef’s Clothing.
