[Signed] Clarke, Eddie. Shaking in the 60’s. First Edition. 1963. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition. Book is inscribed, "To Pat, with *** good wishes and many happy 'daze,' Eddie Clark, Xmas 1964." Designed and illustrated by William S. McCall.
This attractive entry into the mixology genre was written by the bartender and proprietor of the London’s famed Albemarle Club in Mayfair. Before then, he tended bar on the Empress of Britain, meeting “countless famous people” and mixing cocktails for royal personages such as the Duke of Windsor. In addition to the cocktail recipes one expects to find, there is a section devoted to Eddie’s own award-winning concoctions. Infused with humor and amusingly illustrated, this is an appealing book.
“If it is a question of how many mixed drinks there are, do not worry about it, because they run into the astronomical figures—roughly to my knowledge some 8,000.”
--Eddie Clarke
