In Jane Stanton Hitchcock’s novel One Dangerous Lady, she wrote that the five most feared words in New York are ‘Have you seen Page Six?’” In London, they were “Have you read Nigel Dempster?” This A to Z book provides capsule biographies of those covered in his Daily Mail columns, complete with a laundry list of scandals, divorces, affairs, bankruptcies, etc. Includes b & w photographic illustration.
“Thatcherite entrepreneurism [liberated] thousand of urgent young things from the prospect of humdrum office life, to become Yuppies with champagne tastes and Porsches to prove the merit of their calling.”
