Getty, J. Paul. How to Be Rich. First Edition. 1965. Book is in very good condition; dust jacket is in very good minus condition—it shows moderate rubbing and light fraying.
Written by one of the mid-20th Century’s richest men, this book mixes advice with memoir. It not only instructs on how to become rich but how to behave once the first objective has been achieved. His advice is both rational and reasonable, and from it, one would never suspect he was married five times and famously refused to pay the ransom demanded for a kidnapped grandchild. There are many great anecdotes. When a Socialist pontificates about evils of wealth at a dinner party, Getty not only turns the other cheek; he expresses admiration that the man had the backbone to express an opinion. Rare in hardcover.
