[Signed] Balmain, Pierre. My Years and Seasons. First Edition. 1964. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition—jacket shows a tiny tear, and spine is slightly discolored. Book is signed in elegant script on the flyleaf, “With best wishes, Pierre Balmain.”
This uncommon memoir by the Parisian couturier has been included in previous catalogues and generated much interest. This, however, is the first signed copy we have seen. Balmain discusses his apprenticeship with Edward Molyneux, his work alongside Christian Dior (at Lucien Lelong), the mannequins (models) who were just then becoming bold-faced names themselves, and the devoted international clients who adored his designs.
