The Book of Ties, 188 Knots for Necks
Mosconi, Davide. The Book of Ties, 188 Knots for Necks, History, Techniques and Photographs. First Edition. 1985. Book and dust jacket are both in very good condition.
This thoroughly researched and image-filled book, never published in the U.S., is a must for the library of any dandy or male fashionista. It covers ties, scarves, ascots, and any other piece of cloth that could conceivably be worn over the neck. There are color images of models wearing each of the styles, b & w images of the historical figure associated with popularizing a particular knot, and sketches. In addition to the obvious (the Windsor), there are many lesser-known styles, including the Onassis, the Byron, and the Gordian. It is a great reference, but it is more than that, because the pictures are so quirky and fun.
“Ties are, more than any other article of clothing, an affirmation of one’s very own personality . . . somewhat like personal flags.”
--The Book of Ties
