This is the Literary Guild edition, published in the same year as the Viking first. It is a collection of previously published short stories by Parker, as well as one new one. It includes her O. Henry Prize-winning story “Big Blonde,” as well as “Clothe the Naked,” “Here We Are Now,” “The Sexes,” “New York to Detroit,” and “The Custard Heart.” It was released when Parker was in Hollywood making a fortune as a screenwriter, and not then needing the cash (a rarity for the continually impoverished Parker); she only reluctantly permitted the book to be published.
